Thane of Cawdor

on Sunday, January 18, 2009

Today was the battle, our battle, against two separate invading armies—one from Ireland, led by our rebel Macdonwald, and one from Norway. During the battle, Ross our noble Scottish man announced the news about the traitor, the Thane of Cawdor. He said that with the help of that disloyal traitor, the king of Norway began a bloody battle leading an enormous army. I am incredibly outraged at the Thane of Cawdor, how could he possibly betray me like that? I trusted him very much. It takes an honourable and faithful man to have the title as the Thane of Cawdor and yet he did not take that into consideration and instead he chose to take advantage of me and turn his back on me. How dare him! I will never forgive him for what he has done. And God shall punish him for his painful sin.

Also during the battle, a captain full of blood came to update me with the latest news about the revolt. He started off by telling me that, for a while it wasn’t clear to who would win, but then he ended it by saying that Macbeth split Macdonwald open from his navel to his jawbone and stuck his head on our castle walls. Oh how honoured I was to hear that news. Oh lord, bless brave Macbeth! I am so pleased to hear that our noble man Macbeth finally broke the enemy's spirit. He has shown manly hood and bravery. Macbeth has always been a close relative and has acted as an older brother to my sons, so I immediately told Ross to pronounce and give the title of Thane of Cawdor to the loyal and brave Macbeth and also to announce that the rebel, former Thane of Cawdor, will be executed.

Heir to my Throne

What a great night! The moon is white and the stars shine bright. Is the dark sky trying to tell me something that I should be aware of? Is this telling me that I can rest without any worries or is it a sign of trouble times of the future? I don’t quite understand. But, something in my heart tells me that the dark sky is announcing something horrifying. Is it about the end of my life? If it is, this truth will surround me with terror and will surround my kingdom with grief. What should I do? I don’t know what kind of situation my absence would create in my kingdom. Nobody lives forever, and I know I won’t. Oh lord! But, how can I think like this? I am the King of Scotland and I am the leader. If I become a coward, my kingdom will be ashamed and how can I forget my son, Malcolm? Yes, Malcolm, my dearest, oldest son. He should be named heir to the throne.

What about my other son, Donalbain? As a father, how can I be so unfair to my sons? This is a difficult moment. Malcolm deserves to be king as because he is the oldest, however, on the other hand, Donalbain is also my son and I think he is more capable enough to become the king. In this uncertainty, I can’t think properly. I should calm myself down and come to a final decision. Should it be Malcolm or should it be Donalbain?

I should think as a king of Scotland, not as a father. This might make my work easier. If I think as a king, I cannot and I should not go against the tradition of my kingdom. Therefore, it should be Malcolm and I am going to respect my traditions. I am going to declare this good news tomorrow morning. I will send an invitation to Macbeth since he has done so much for me and Banquo who deserves no less. This will be a double celebration and will surround my palace with everlastingly joy.

The good times are not much far away. So I should get a good sleep tonight since tomorrow’s great morning will announce the news of double celebration.

Trust in Macbeth and Banquo

Macbeth and Banquo are my two best noblemen. I have a lot of trust in them. I have known them since they were young. It feels like it was just yesterday when I had met Macbeth and Banquo. They are like my sons. They helped keep Malcolm and Donalbain happy.

When they were young, I remember how Macbeth and Banquo used to be frightened of me, but look at them now, two young gentlemen. At their young age they had never told a fib to me which makes them more trustworthy. I can always count on Macbeth and Banquo to get the job done for me. I never doubt them for a second.

Just a few minutes ago I trusted Macbeth and made him thane for Cawdor. This is because my men came and told me how much Macbeth had done and how heroic he was. He is truly a trustworthy man. The reason why I trust Macbeth a lot is because he is my bravest soldier who would never say no at my commands. Tonight I will be sleeping at his place for the night. I would be one of the guests at Macbeths place. I know nothing will go wrong.

Banquo is also a great and trustworthy person who I can always count on for never lying to be about anything. As a child, Banquo would always be honest with me. He is one of my favorite soldiers. Although Banquo has not done a lot, he shows himself as one of the most trustworthy men. Banquo was always the quiet one, even now he is the quiet one, but anyways I can always trust Banquo and Macbeth. They are my two loyal men. I just hope that nothing ever changes between me and Banquo and Macbeth in the future.

Night at Macbeth's

on Saturday, January 17, 2009

This castle is in a pleasant place. The air is sweet and appeals to my refined senses. My fine hosts, the Macbeth's have always been so welcoming and hospitable to me. This chamber is certainly one of the comfiest and royal chambers I have slept in outside of Dunsinane. Macbeth has always been such a loyal soldier to me and my kingdom. I am still in shock about the previous Thane of Cawdor. I cannot believe he would betray his country and all his people. Macbeth was definitely the right choice to be the new Thane of Cawdor. He is trustworthy, loyal, and will do anything for his people and his king. I remember Macbeth as a youngster running around the outskirts of Dunsinane, just as if it were yesterday. He used to occupy Malcolm and Donaldbain when I was busy tending to the country. He was almost like an older brother for them. I am quite lucky that Macbeth was there to spend time with them and give them the attention they needed. When Macbeth started dating Lady Macbeth, she was always there for them too. She is such a dear with a smile that could light up the world. They will definitely make fine parents someday. Royalty and a line of kings have been in my family for generations and Malcolm is my immediate heir to my throne. If something shall happen to him then of course Donaldbain would be next in line. Macbeth has been so close to my family I would be honoured to have him take over my throne if it was ever needed. I shall share this great news with him first thing in the morning. I’m sure he will be delighted.
